Spektr-UF Exposure Time Calculator

This is the first version of ETC. With the clarification of the technical characteristics of the Spektr-UF instruments during the preparation for the launch and its operation in orbit, the developed ETC will be updated.

Planned Features for Future Versions:

  • Add the ability to normalize the astronomical objects spectrum not only by its apparent magnitude but also by the magnitude in other filters;
  • Add various absorption curves in the Galaxy for the user's choice apart from (Cardelli et al., 1989);
  • Combine calculations of the Spektr-UF ETC with the calculations of the zodiacal light contribution and geocoronal emission for a specific object and time of observation;
  • Add the ability to divide the total observing time to solve a specific problem into sub-exposures. And also to display warnings to the user related to technical limitations that may arise during observations (for example, a warning about possible overexposure of the detector).

Development Vision: Thus, by gradually improving the developed Spektr-UF ETC, we plan to achieve the best agreement between the expected results when planning the experiment and the results obtained during its implementation. This, in turn, will help to effectively implement the program of the Spektr-UF observatory planned for launch.
